Dave!  Good to see your pictures again, but....uh....what happened to the PRR?

I'm protecting the good citizens of Moose Bay by adding some protection at the busier grade crossings.

This is a road that I've suddenly realized has no name.  But, it's at the edge of the layout so I thought it was a good spot for some kit-built Oregon Rail Supply crossbucks with flashers.  I'm driving them with a Rob Paisley circuit board.  I've got the right side approach wired up with phototransistors, but so far it's only daylight.  I'm working on figuring how to mount the infrared LEDs for night operation.

is it Powered ?

Kit or Scratch built ?

Terry in TX .... It was made from an old kit I had. It was European, and may have bene PIKO brand. I did not keep the box. ...... It is not powered, and has plastic wheels which do roll, but not very well. .... I call it my "ugly crane, and its supposed purpose is to pick up spilled coke at the coke oven. ... Usually, it is paked at the end of the track where it does not block movemnt of other equipment. ... I think a small power truck such as sold by NWSL could make it go on the track. The crane part with the bucket would be very challenging to power. .... Thanks for asking

Peter ... Thanks for commenting about the steel mill.

All work and no play certainly makes for a duller Bear but then it’s also a case of making hay while the sun shines. However Mike L is right, all this Really Good Stuff does raise the spirits. Thank you All.Thumbs Up
Had a bit of a break today, and while Foreman Fred may be happy we’re getting back on course, there’s nothing like a close up shot to see I need a steadier hand and some more magnification.Oops - Sign

Cheers, the Bear.Smile

How about a 1:1 pic of my 1969 double wide cabover White Freightliner that I with the help of my close friend restored and redone the motor in 1983. I was leased to Galaxy Transport an Intermodal carrier.

There is no way in heck, that trailer can be lifted that way

Okay Frank, is this better?  But seriously, I appreciate your expert input and the opportunity to set up and share some more photo fun.  Also enjoyed the informative and interesting video.

Thanks and regards, Peter

Mike,

Thanks! I just added what spare/leftover parts I had together until I had a couple of pens. No particular plans, just remembering what they look like from pics and visits on to CO.

Mike - I like your sheep pens.Banta makes a good looking O scale kit that's on my "to buy" list. I've been busy with the On3 side lately.'Changed out the motors on all 5 of my MMI engines(thanks to Laurie McLean MMR - look him up on YouTube - for his video about this).

Laurie's videos are both enjoyable and informative, ranging from the very basic to bleeding edge high-tech. Well worth looking through them for something of interest if you haven't seen them before: https://www.youtube.com/user/scoopmmr

As always...  Cool Stuff this weekend!

I haven't had a whole lot of time to spend in the train rooms this last week, but did manage to sneak some time to do a bit more ballasting and scenery in the Kanadarqua Yard.

Some great looking work so far this weekend. WPF is becoming one of my favorite places for a little "kick in the pants" inspiration when needed. It's a light workload this weekend for me but none the less..........arriving at work for a little horn detail, some paint work on the handrails, and a coupler upgrade. Now it's time to decide if I wanna tackle that decoder upgrade too........

Building the RDG, PRR, CNJ, LV railroads on the Huntington Valley Basement Lines.......

'Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend... lots of inspiring shots this week.

I've been busy with the On3 side lately.'Changed out the motors on all 5 of my MMI engines(thanks to Laurie McLean MMR - look him up on YouTube - for his video about this).

I swapped decoders around so my K-36s,and K-37 have WowSounds, and the K-27s have Tsunamis(all with Keep Alives),and installed larger speakers in several of them.'Painted the boilers black on 498 and 486(they were green),and did some weathering with powders.

Here's a short video of 3 of the engines.Low speed performance is much better with the new Mashima motors.

Peter,

Nice pic',........But....There is no way in heck, that trailer can be lifted that way, with a container spreader bar pick-up, You must have grappler arm's on the spreader bar, so they grab the bottom of the trailer at the side's.

Just thought I would pass that on, no offense. Look at pic' of the LeTourneau side loader, atop the spreader bar, you will see the grappler arm's folded up, in use they swing down and grab a trailer from the bottom sides, two on each side.

Also, watch the short video:

Bear,  Thanks for the WPF roll out.  Hoping you soon enjoy some model railroading time before the pink trains begin appearing on the wall.

Garry, Nice steel mill, especially like those grimy Baldwin S12s.

Ray, I've heard folks wonder about what to do with a backyard hillside, but you have found the perfect solution.

Thanks to all, regards, Peter

Nice work guys! Mike L , what kind of loco is that ? I must have missed something!

Mike,

It's a Liliput model of the Austrian Gemeinder diesel. They operate on the narrowgauge lines there, primarily the Zillerthalbahn.

This model makes for a low budget entry model for narrowgauge at around $160 list here in the US. It comes set-up for HOe (9mm gauge, HOn30 here), but a conversion axle set is available to make it run on HOm (12mm gauge, representing meter gauge and also TT standard gauge). I used the conversion axles to narrow them to run on HOn3 (10.5mm gauge).

Here's the thread about it: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/p/215880/2433828.aspx

ON the Boothbay Railway Village layout, we are starting work on the Portland scene.

There will be street running on Commercial St., a coal unloading area on the right, B&M Baked Beans factory behind the truss bridge, a number of businesses on the piers, and Portland Gas Lighting gas storage tank - the black circle on the left.

Great to see everyone's great work.  I've spent some time assembling a Campbell Supply Co. Craftsman kit:

Here it is temporarily positioned on the new section of my layout.  Inside there are 14 light bulbs wired on 5 separate circuits. When it is installed and wired for real, I'll be able to conrol the lights in each section of the building independently.

Grampy

I wish I had done some better research on the types of flat car trailer hitches available. The ones you used look much better for the era but I didn't buy them because they were described as being fixed (as opposed to being collapsable, or so I assumed). The description was very misleading. Of course they have to be collapsable to drive the trailers on and off the flat car.

I really like the way you have done the wear marks where the truck tires run. Very inspiring.

Dave

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
