Steel rail to the scrap yard/load or dressed up for incoming MOW loads or piles in the MOW yard.
Had thought about brass in the stub staging. but not shure how I can work one in. Good idea about a section or two of NS at the entrance.

Two of my back-in staging yards started life as display shelves, brass rail spiked directly to pine 1-by. The brass rail that used to be where locomotives now stop (positive stop, DC power and a cheap diode) was replaced with nickel silver, but the goods wagons stop and wait on brass rail. No problems to report after several years of operation.
If you're concerned about possible galvanic corrosion after months or years of standing in one place, give the rails a coat of clear lacquer. Nail polish should do it.

Brass should not give you a problem. As for the "steel" If it is nickle silver then no, if it really is steel and could rust then I would not use it.
Have some brass track and was recently given some steel track. I am wondering if I used either of these on a display (storage) shelf if, would it cause damage at the point of contact with the metal wheels?
My area is quite dry.
