If you want to successfully sell your stuff on eBay, you have to gain control over shipping charges. eBay now defaults to Expedited Shipping, so if you are not careful, your item goes up for auction with outlandish shipping charges, discouraging potential bidders. In fact, the shipping charges turn out to be a fraction of the stated shipping charges, but if your item goes unsold, what good is that?

OH my yes NP, they got me good on that one. Am not willing to do it again. I checked their fees and found them to be unreasonable for the service they are offering.
I just went and looked at my ebay account; I sold a lot of stuff in Feb - April. Edited because I scrolled down further into the March statement. It had a nice graph that stated that my eBay fees were 14.76% of my total sales volume. That included PayPal fees, as well. But still, much, much higher than it used to be; and I've been selling stuff there for over 15 years...
I don't do a lot of volume; I'm not a power seller, but I have 100% positive feedback on over 500 auctions. I would do a lot more if it didn't cost so darned much...

It took only one sale on Ebay to realize the benefits of EBay are on the buying side. 10% of the cost you are selling your item for was a bit too much taken from my sale. Wont sell on Ebay again, but i buy alot.
I think RichHOTrain makes a valid point too, sell after the holiday. Do know though that the public expects to find great deals at this time. So pricing is everything.
Since the discussion of pricing is sort of a taboo subject, you gotta know that BLI products are, well.... taboo. I know THIS is the real reason why they arent moving.

Timing is everything.
Don't bother to list until after New Year's Day.
I always list stuff in January and early February.
Many people are going through hard times right now and don't have the money to spend else where either.......
Is it that we are near Chrsitmas and people have to spend money else where?
I have a BLI NYC Hudson 4-6-4 J1e that I would like to list. However, I have been monitoring these locos for sale on Ebay and they just do not seem to be moving at all. In fact, out of five pages of Broadway Limited locomotives listed, only 2-3 locos even have bids on them!
Many of these locos are listed at; or, above what my favorite discounter is selling them for. However, even the ones with great "Buy it Now" prices do not seem to be moving.
Does anyone have an explanation for this?
