mlehmanYowza! It's huuuuge, as Donald Trump would say.
I dunno, Mike.....huuuuge has too many letters...I think he'd be more comfortable just using "big", as we've heard from him on many occasions.

SlowmodemWere you talking about the dock kit or the ship kit?
I was refering to the Edmund Fitzgerald kit. It was featured in the Walthers catalog once or twice but I'm not aware that any ever got delivered.
I wound up going with the Sylvan Models Great Lakes Ore Boat:

I need to get some more recent photos posted

gmpullmanWalthers offered the kit but I doubt very few were ever delivered. Ed

Were you talking about the dock kit or the ship kit? I recently contacted Walthers and they have some kits in transit and I really want one. I've never been there. I've only seen videos of it on Youtube. But it's mezmurizing for some reason. Plus, it's owned by Cleveland Cliffs and I've been in and out of that stock.
I've got the LS&I BN locomotives 3073 and 3074 and several ore cars. One day maybe I can get the Conrail locomotives, too.
I hope to get to the UP one day and check it out.

Ironically, I live in the only county in Tennessee with no railroad tracks.
I knew that . . . thanks for the correction.

John,
Yowza! It's huuuuge, as Donald Trump would say.
BTW, Duluth is in Minnesota. The Wisconsin side is Superior, WI.

I think that's the same kit. Tom came across one for sale. He lengthened it to make it a more scale length, and added other improvements.

That is truly an impressive display...
I cringe every time I see that model of the Big Fitz. It has to be the one from Jason Davis of Resin Unlimited. I bought and paid for one of these back in 2004 and he never sent it. I'm out $575. Walthers offered the kit but I doubt very few were ever delivered. One of the risks of mail-order shopping. Caveat emptor...
Tom Cox is building an amazing ore dock on his HO scale layout--it's 18 feet long, and has a scale model of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
