Try this: http://index.mrmag.com/tm.exe?opt=S&cmdtext=GP30+&MAG=MRG&output=3&sort=A
I believe this one:
Before and After: Modeling a Pair of High-Nose GP30s
Model Railroading, November/December 2000 page 55
( DIESEL, EMD, GP30, KITBASH, "LESTER, ANDY", SUPERDETAIL, CONSTRUCTION, ENGINE,
LOCOMOTIVE, MRG )
or this one
Diesel Detail Close-Up: B&O EMD GP30 Phase I
Model Railroading, November/December 1999 page 56
( B&O, CLOSEUP, DIESEL, EMD, GP30, "PICARIELLO, RICH", SUPERDETAIL, ENGINE, LOCOMOTIVE,
PROTOTYPE, MRG )
is what you are looking for.
Try MB Klien and TrainWorld for the phase 1 models.
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California

SSW,
I definitely would prefer to go that route, except that all of my regional hobby dealers are out-of-stock on Phase 1 GP30's (ALL phases in fact). Ebay searches turn up nothing for Phase 1 models.
I do, however, have a few old Front Range Phase2 shells that I can canniballize.

Why don't you buy a phase 1 shell and paint it?

I need to shorten the fireman's side of the cab of a P2K CSX GP30, i.e., convert it from a Phase 2 to a Phase 1. Have there been any MR paint shop articles on how to do this? Or any other how-to books?
