Joe Fugate's Volume 2 DVD

Recieved my DVD yesterday and after a long evening of meetings I was finally able to sit down and watch it. I have been anxiously awaiting volume 2 and I was not disappointed. Volume 2 covered many topics and did a good job with each. Enjoyed the computer animation that showed the construction techniques used to build the mushroom. It made it much easier to understand than just looking at 2 dimensional plans. The portion on the layout designing was not as long as I would have liked, but I can understand time limited the amount of material that could be covered. I do own most of the books named so I appreciated the concepts of the design. Overall it was a very good investment and I would recommend it highly.[:D][:)] Joe, once again you have done a very good job. My hat is off to everyone involved with the production of this series.[:D]

Nice to hear you liked Siskiyou Line, vol 2, John.

I agree on the track planning section ... a lot more could be said. I kept trimming and trimming the script and as it was that chapter still came out the longest, at 20 minutes on a 76 minute DVD.

I'll pass the word on to Rick as well (he was the host who asked me the questions). Rick did better this time around I think. And honestly, Rick's not a model railroader but now with 2 videos under our belt, and part of a 3rd (the DCC short management clip is from volume 3), he's pretty impressed with the hobby at this point.

"Wow, so that's how it all works ... impressive! I had NO idea!" is Rick's typical off-camera comment. "It's a lot more that just running trains around the room like I used to think!"

I wish I had the funds to get the videos.... I'm thinking they might be high on my Christmas wish list.
