I seriously doubt that the National Park Service will allow anything other than the Jupiter and Number 119 locomotives that are already there.

Some reports have surfaced on other forums that tend to indicate the Union Pacific steam program is in disarray; Challenger 3985 needs major work; and their web site shows no excursions presently scheduled.

I haven't looked at the National Park Service web site to see if they have anything in the planning stages, but that might be the most reliable source of information.

Since the origin site is part of the National Parks system, I am sure they will do something. I am not sure if the UP has determined another site to stand in as the east meets west point since the original site is no longer on an existing rail line. To get a Big Boy and an Allegheny to Promentory Summit, they will either have to rebuild that line of have the locos trucked in.

Doesnt seem like a discussed topic, atleast im not aware of any. But is anyone wondering whats going on for the 150th at Promentory in a few years?

Is it any wonder UP is restoring a Big Boy which will be rolling by that time? Coincidence? Are we taking any bets on who (what locos) might be there for the re-creation of the famous east meets west photo? (tis why i wish theyd have grabbed 1604 instead of 1309!)

Can one imagine what east meets west would look like if it was a Big Boy facing an Allegheny.... both under steam! Who wouldnt buy a ticket for that ride!!! Is there even going to be a Promentory 150th?

Maybe this has already been planned, i dunno. Havent heard. I cant be the only one to have thought about it (yes I googled it! -nada result). Anyone?
