The HHs can be MUed together using the special coupler on the rear of the last truck. The HH would use a 2400hp diesel engine from a 24 gear Mack or mabe a Kenworth. The Ore Hauler is the main HH in the fleet as it can carry any commidity that can be carried in open tubs. The supports holding the tubs up have large motors on them to rotate the tubs to unload their cargo.

I don't think that'll be a right solution. Future technology will provide stronger (more Hp) engines in smaller designs. MUing is a very versatile and practical solution. Imagine one of this monsters in a repair shop for months.

It doesn't seem to me that it would have enough traction motors to pull as well as single units lashed together. More wheels per unit equals more traction motors and more pulling power. If this concept was a good one, it would be in widescale use by now.

Nice concept BUT, I think it would kill the most interesting aspect of railroading Yard switching! How would industries use this would a train have to be assigned to each Industry?

While an interesting concept for a model, I strongly suspect that from an engineering standpoint such designs (especially the third one) would not likely be really viable. Major servicing on such an engine could prove a nightmare, as could a significant single unit failure on the road. The concept of MUing separate units is done for very good reasons - even the permanently joined A-B pair idea didn't last.

Interesting concept. I think you would have to the forward cab a single unit as there would be no advantage to have the Cab seperate from the forward engine and there might be weight distribution issues. Instead of two wheel Engines, why not three?

So are you calling this a modern day Breyer-Garrett?

I say you should build it as it would sure be a unique beast.

I believe th HH would be an excellent rail vehicle. It would boost productivity, have multiple uses and would not need yards to switch the equipment.
