It is a sad time when one of our number passes & is gone to where good souls go.

There is no pain there & lifes relentless struggles are forgotten & the dream of tomorrow comes with a smile & a knowing chuckle - a feeling of contentment knowing that service given was service appreciated & respected.

So now its time to walk green fields as whole again strong & powerful with a new purpose & a continuing determination. Gone & behind the protective wall are the cities bleached with fear and the fight for peace where there is none.

But now there is peace & it will be that way forever. Not even the winds whisper will disturb the resting spirit.

When I saw a lot more posts on this thread, I was hoping my first thoughts were wrong, but sadly they weren't. I will remember Jeff as one of the most inventive people around, always making something from what many of us would have just thrown in the trash. A solid example of the concept that this hobby is what you make of it. He will be missed.

I'm very sorry to hear of Jeff's passing.  I lived in Leesville in the mid-90s while stationed at Ft Polk, but that was before forums, so regretfully I never did meet him.  I don't know that I've ever known so prolific a forum poster as Jeff.  I recall watching him try new weathering techniques and improving his results each time.  To me, that's the essence of this hobby...trying new things and expanding one's skill set.  Jeff was also inspiringly creative on a shoestring budget, and bucked the trend of the hobby's growing expense.  To that end he proved that model railroading was accessible to anyone with determination and a knack for a deal.

As I drifted out of this forum and into others, one thing I could count on in my few sojourns back to MR forums was Jeff.  His passing is very saddening indeed.  My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Clear tracks ahead, Jeff...

This is so sad. May Jeffrey rest in peace.

This is from the man known as the "Hoosier Poet"

“He Is Not Dead

I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you—oh you, who the wildest yearn
For an old-time step, and the glad return,
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love of Here.
Think of him still as the same. I say,
He is not dead—he is just away.”

Jeff was another great guy I never got to actually meet, but it seemed no matter what curved ball life threw at him, he just dealt with it and kept on going. Such strength of character was something to admire and is an inspiration.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Kindest regards, Craig the Bear.

Sir Madog

Jeff passed away this morning.

We have lost a true friend.

God rest you, Jeffrey.

We who have been here for the past many years know that he had a constant and daily struggle with many health problems, but also the stress that comes with poverty.  He stayed active here, served as a moderator for a while, and kept in touch.  Jeff was a class act when many of us would have crumbled.

Sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. Our paths never crossed in any way, but he was one of us and I am sure will be sorely missed by his family and all those who knew him. Hopefully he is in a better place, R.I.P. Jeff...

Jeff was one of the best moderators we ever had on this forum. Always fair and patient.

He gave advice to so many less knowledgeable modelers it will be a great loss to this forum for a long time.

Rest in peace Jeff Angel

Over inthe Diner thread, I am known as the "keeper of the flame", and I have:

I have posted 5 lighted  candles:

1} for the "light of his life"

2} for the "light he brought to others", no matter how low things got for him,

3} for the "light to light his way" from now on where ever he may be

4} for the "light his family will need in these, the darkest of days" for them regarding him

and 5}, for the "Light he would want US to have in his memory".

I am sad to hear of Jeffreys passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of need.

Jeff was always friendly and helpful. I admired and appreciated his military service. Always had the best "can do" attitude and was keen in the ways to being a "fix it" man.

He leaves many friends here.

God bless you Jeffrey

I spoke with Jeff when he was in hospital briefly one time for each time he had an amputation. Now, I wish I had talked with him more.

I was certainly impressed with his positive mental attitude. He was never about to give up, and believed strongly in his ability to solve his problems.

As we remember Jeff Running Bear, let us be thankful for his postive spirit he shared with Forum members.

I spoke briefly with Jeff's Dad on the phone last year and again a few months ago. I could tell his father is a good man. .... So, to Jeff's Dad, step mother, sister, and other family members, you have my sincere condolences.

Praise God. Jeffrey is in a better place now. Our Prayers are with his family and friends.

I can't remember if it was this Forum or the ATLAS Forum when Space Mouse figured out Jeff needed a new digital camera. That led to Jeffrey posting many photos on both Forums.

That had to be 15 years ago or more. It has been a long time.

25,640 post is the final count for this tough guy. He welcomed me with lots of help when I signed on and I will miss his presence on the forum. I wish there were some rafters here on the forum, we could retire his jersey and hang it up high. He won't soon be forgotten.

I never met you, Jeff, but it's obvious that you have lots and lots of friends.  People don't get friends if they don't deserve them, so it's clear that you're one of the very good guys.

My very best wishes to you for a speedy and uneventful recovery.

I have posted what Jeffrey's younger sister sent me in the Elliot's diner thread. SHe has since posted here in this old thread.

I have lit a candle for Jeffrey.

Healing energies go out to him that he may only be dealt what he can deal with right now.
