According to www.kadee.com/conv/list.htm it's a 39 for the pilot, 5 or 58 for the tender.

Check the Kadee web site for the coupler. They installation guides listed by manufacturers to help with the install.

I'm happy with my IHC 2-8-0, but I would like to replace the front horn-hook coupler with a knuckle. Does anyone know which replacement to use?

I have a Premier series 4-8-2 decorated in GN Glacier colors. Doesn't LOOK like a GN, since their mountains didn't hang the cross-compound pumps on the boiler face, but it's a nice runner and pulls quite well. Like the other guys on this post, you need to add a little weight, but there's room for that. Actually, my IHC runs just as well as my Bachmann Spectrum 4-8-2. Sometimes I double-head them. Looks cool.

I have a 2-8-0 that runs just fine, a 4-6-2 UP that runs fine but the detailing is real poor, and another 4-6-2 CN that runs in a woobly way, something is wrong with the trailing truck...

Very satisfied with my IHC Premier Mountain, very smooth running. Add a little weight, detail and weathering.

4-6-2 Semi-streamlined Pac. that runs good. I've had no trouble with it.

I have a 2-8-0 and it's a real good runner. It has a flywheel and runs really smooth.

I have 5 or 6 IHC steam engines and they all run very smoothly. Although none of them were DCC ready, I have installed decoders into them with no problems because their motors are isolated from the frame. They use can motors that are mounted in the front of the cab behind a backhead casting. The only drawback to IHC locomotives are their lack of detail and that they use a shiny metal for the handrails, which really makes them stand out.

Generally speaking I had good luck with my HO Mountain, good price, good weight
I prefer a few extra ounces, 15/16 total or more for better traction up the grade.
I don't recall any serious flaws about their product line.

I have their 2-8-0, Premier series, and am very satisfied with it; looks, running, etc.
Good value for the price.

Can anyone tell how IHC steam loco runs. I need a new steam loco for my layout. I was thinking of buying a Pacific loco from IHC. I was going to buy a Hudson from them but they sold out before I got one.
