Uncoupling Magnets
Posted by Paul W. Beverung on Sunday, October 24, 2004 7:31 PM
I Was at my favorate local hobby shop the other day and noticed a selection of magnets. The one that caught my eye was about 1"x3/4"x3/16". It's called a latch magnet, cost $.25. It is strong! The manufactureis, Dowling Magnets. Ph. no 1-800-magnet-1.www.dowlingmagnets.com. I'm using magnets from old coin mechenisms from video games. I used to work on the things and have a bunch of old mech. The magnets are strong enough to mount well below the track and can even be rigged to raise and lower so you can uncouple as needed. Those latch magnets could be used the same way. Hopes this helps someone.
