Randyaj,
I know lots of narrow gauge (HOn3) guys and they all use the 714. Yes they are a pain, but once you get used to them they aren't so bad. If you must use something bigger, use the 58's, they will look a little better.

#5's should work fine if your radius isn't extremely tight. I think the size is the main reason they came out with the 714's, the #5's will look big for narrow gauge stuff.
Another option would be to use N scale ones, like Micro Trains #1025?

I am wondering if the Kadee 714 coupler is the only choice for couplers in Hon3. The two piece design with the center spring is a pain. So much so that I am thinking of just using the standard no 5 coupler that I use on my Ho equipment. Any Ideas?
