I have two. They're old AKANE M-3 Yellowstone 2-8-8-4's, built in the mid '60's. Not the detail of today's locos, but they're real pullers and smooth runners and can haul almost anything. Actually, I'm scouring places, looking for some more. I'd like to have a fleet of the suckers, they're so good!

The Alco RS-3 - WHY?, because I learned to run diesels on one WAAAAY-back when I was a young railroader. I have 4 of the HO Atlas models on my layout!

Life-Like GM switchers (SW9/1200, SW8/600/900). Nice slow speed and the motors run smooth like Kato motors.

Rivarossi German Federal Railways class 10 Pacific, the last German passenger steam locomotives. There were two in the class, one oilburner and one coal burner.
I have both! It is the only prototype of which I have all the class members. Run beautifully, look good, have replaceable streamline casings with cutouts for sharp curves (which match the hinged casings on the real thing!).

While I am a big fan of GP7/9s and SW 1200 and SW1500s I find that my favorite is the RS1.[;)]

My favorites : Kato SD90, closely followed by Atlas GP-40 and Proto 2000 GP-60. All of these run great and have lot of nice detail.

My new favorite HO loco is my Bachmann Spectrum F40PH(currently being repainted for the Maine Eastern #291) . It runs flawlessly and has great details. Thanks to it's mass ( 20.8oz ) it will out-pull all the other locomotives in my all diesel roster, even my old favorite(Athearn Genesis F3A Maine Central #683, weighing in at 17.2oz)

Probably my PFM B&O L2 0-8-0, I have. It was my HS graduation present to myself.
It weighs a ton, looks great, and has a bulletproof feel to it.

It's a tossup between the Lionel Challenger, Broadway Limited Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northern, and a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation with a SoundTraxx system installed. All 3 are very good engines.

I have to add the Stewart VO1000 & 660 , also the LL (PROTO) 0-8-0 and 2-8-8-2. These are the four best running engines I have, not brass.

The same as my favorite prototype engine, the N&W Class J. I have several HO versions including brass, and am waiting on BLI for one with "that" whistle. Second would be a toos-up between my P2K Virginian BA and my BLI N&W Class A.
What could have happened.... did.
