It's been brought to my attention that to take offense to opinions given, when the original intent was to ask for opinions, is a stupid endeavor.  It's not that catching on to this was something new to me.  Always knew it, just didn't realize I was doing it.  A good friend has brought this to my attention.
In this day and age where apology might be looked upon as weakness, I don't care and feel an apology is needed.   Therefore, please except my sincere apology!
I can be thin skinned and like everyone else, prefer to be right about my opinions, even though I am wrong many times.
This thread was started in hopes of finding reasons to a question that is a regional topic by nature.   Although I believe that the Northern Pacific was as important of a railroad as any in this country, we all have our own biases.  That’s why we all settle on one line over another.
Thank you to everyone who gave their opinions in this thread!

NP2626,

We have all been there - some more than others.   I feel about the Illinois Central as you do about the Northern Pacific.

Of course the NP had a lot going for it - especially the scenery!   Hard to top that.

ENJOY!
