Hand manufactured brass locomotive articles
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 21, 2004 1:24 PM
Several years ago i read a series of artciles on scratch building brass steam locomotives. Can anyone please help with information on where i could find these articles, and if possible any other good resources for scratch building brass locomotives and cars. Thank you very, very much.

Welcome to the forums!

Look at the very top of this (or any page at Trains.com/ModelRailroader.com). Click the link called "Index of magazines." You can search for old content from Model Railroader and dozens of other magazines.

The article was in MR in the mid-to-late 90's, if I recall. I would go find it for you, but I'd like you to check out the Index for yourself.

Again, welcome!

Ok so i went to the back issues section to see about ordering the issues containing the articles i wanted. Several of the issues are not available throught this service. i am planning to purchase the issues that are available, but i would like help in finding the rest of the articles that are necessary for the entire work. Again thank you very much for the help that you have already given to me. I will greatly appreciate all the continued help in this. I am looking forward to be able to create and sharing my future work with everyone.

Coda Jones,
The NMRA's Kalmbach Memorial Library in Chattanooga:
http://www.nmra.org/library/
has a vast collection of back issues of most model railroad and prototype periodicals. The cost of photocopies, even for non-members, is reasonable. Alternatively, you could look for back issue stacks at many local hobby shops and at large public libraries.
