I perfer to purchase a la carte.  AKA as needed, instead of all in one. I like the magazine but not videos. Digital is fine but want it on my HD, not on a server............

We shall see.

Even if it is on the computer, you plug an HDMI cable from the TV into the computer and basically use your TV as a moniter (only bigger and better).

Maybe they could do an update where you send in your old discs for a reduced price.

It would be a lot easier and economical for MRR to simply sell you a new disk that contains the everything since the last anniversary DVD collection was released.

That only works if the new issues can be incorporated with the currrent issues - I don't know if they allowed for that.  Plus I would hope that future releases include better search, index, and display software.

I really hope the new "thing" isn't an on line feature. All of us do not have access to high speed internet. The DSL I have is sometime too slow to be of much good.

Reprint the original DVD's without the glitches I've been hearing about.

The answer is in the November issue, full page ad. The MR "All Access Pass" - though details are very lacking. It says "online access to over 1000 issues" as well as access to bonus subscriber content, and MR Video Plus. I sincerely hope that the only access to the magazines is NOT online. I do not want to have to be connected to be able to read an issue. And hopefully you can still print things, like I printed the construction article from the 75 year DVD to PDF, loaded it on my tablet, and had it right at hand at the workbench, just like having a paper copy.

Considering that the January 2014 issue celebrated the eightieth anniversary, I wouldn't be surprised if MRR is planning to release an 80th anniversary edition DVD collection when the December 2014 issue comes out.

I think it is unfortunate that MR would not be interested in reprinting the 75th anniversary DVD collection.  There is obviously an interest in it, and for whatever reason, people either didn't or couldn't purchase it the first time around.  With this move, MR could be contributing to delinquency of modelers by allowing an illicit black market of DVDs being copied and sold in back alleys or at convenience markets. :):). Seriously, I would hope MR might reconsider.

Less is more,...more or less!

Hmm, whatever the replacement is, I hope it doesn't totally replace the copy I have now by being a complete overlap.

And thats the trick. If they make it as an update, the people who did not buy the original will miss out.

If they make another complete series, then those who have the original will have to purchase a lot of redundant content.

Or make it available by the decade. Idea

No. We have something new in the works that will take its place, though. Stay tuned for an announcement this fall. Whisper

Before I found this thread, I contacted CS and was told :

"Thank you for contacting us regarding the 75 year collection of Model Railroader on DVD. At this time, we do not have plans to reprint this DVD. We apologize for any disappointment.

We continue to look at new options to offer you the content of past issues of the magazine and will share information with our readers if anything is decided."

That "if anything" isn't very encouraging. I recently had to dispose of my MR 1944- present collection (divorce is an ugly thing) and expected to be able to replace it with the DVD only to find it discontinued.

Should I start beating the bushes looking for a copy?

Hope somethign similar is in the works for the special issues collection as well, that's the one I missed.

So, how about TRAINS?  That collection is still out there... or is there news coming on that front too?

Does Kalmbach have any plans to reissue the 75 years of Model Railroader DVD collection?
