My friends say the end is near, as the Sox have won the pennant, most of the ski resorts in the west will be open by Halloween and so help me if Ralph Nader wins next week I'm finding a rock to hide under!!!! [:D][:p][:D]

I don't take anything away from the Red Sox, they did a great job. I live in NJ, and know a couple of people from up that way who don't believe I am sincere when I say that I rooted them on after they beat the Yanks.

Well done Sox!!

As Cardinals fan, I can not tell you how sickening it is that the Cardinals failed to show up for even an inning or two. It would have been nice to have had something to get excited about for a few at bats!

Tonight I shall read my latest MRR mag instead of watching TV!

Thank goodness it was over in only four games. Now I can get back to modeling.

He seemed dissappointed because his book is now redundant....

Whats next?

To see how long it takes Boston to stop Burning and to clean up to bodies!!!!

Theres gonna be a collective Hangover so large in Beantown this morning it will make last night luner eclipse look TAME!

A Boston headline that sums it all up:

Pigs can fly, hell is frozen, the slipper finally fits,
and Impossible Dreams really can come true.
The Red Sox have won the World Series!!

In case anyone has any doubts about it, I'm a very happy camper this morning. I couldn't believe they actually did it last night. I'm still waiting for someone to unearth some arcane rule that would require a replay or disqualify them or something.

It's been a long time coming.

We'll see how successful the management is about keeping the main players from jumping ship during the off season. I suspect their payroll is going to need to increase.

Could it be Chicago's turn next?

Congratulations, BoSox fans!!! You've edured a long time!!!

After being down 0-3, it was SO SWEET to see the Yankees go down in 4 straight. YES!!! I'll be honest and say that I was a bit disappointed with the WS. I thought there'd be more of a battle between the Sox and the Cardinals. It was so anti-climactic compared to the ALCS. I wouild have liked to have at least seen it go 6 and have it won at Fenway. In my opinion, Curt Schilling deserved the MVP, not Manny.

2004 goes to the Red Sox. 2005? GO TRIBE!!!!!!!

Well Elliot, I for one am not a big baseball fan, but I am glad to see the Sox finally getting their due....
Although growing up I was a Braves fan and went to quiet a few games. Somehow I kind of lost interest
in baseball after I finished playing (little league)....Now watching football keeps me pretty busy in the fall.
Anyway, Go Red Sox (it's about time).[^] Dave

The stars seem to be in the proper alignment, as a lunar eclipse is taking place during the game. Lowe is pitching great, and the Sox are up 3-0 in the 4th. There have only been 3 sweeps in World Series history. Top of the 5th, here we go, let's make it 4!!!![swg]

Nah, I can picture an almost Zen-like peacefulness. Oneness with the ball, the green grass, the Green Monster........... A feeling that order has been restored.......

Well, that's here in this household, anyway. Up in Boston it'll probably be another matter. But I'm too old to enjoy that kind of stuff anymore.

Anyway, it's all still conjuncture. There's unfinished business to be taken care of, and a Curse to ovecome. Let's not get ahead of ourselves and get overconfident. Look what hubris did for the Yankees, and they didn't even have a curse working against them!

Still time to get a post or two in before getting a good seat in my recliner in front of the boob tube.

Well Ed, changing the title can't be any worse than Pedro saying, "I don't believe in curses. Wake up the dumb Bambino, and have me face him. Maybe I'll drill him in the ..."

If I don't taunt the Bambino here, he may oversleep, and the Sox will quietly win, and no longer be any fun. I'm almost afraid for Boston if they do win. The City may crumble to the ground.[swg]

I don't know, Elliot. Changing the thread name to something like that could be tempting fate. "The Curse" is a powerful thing, and it needs to be exorcised carefully.

I'm not chalking this Series up in the 'won' column yet. We've been very close before. The Red Sox are capable of unbelievable blunders. There's no lead they're not capable of blowing.

I was, again, strangely calm during last night's game. At least until Walker hit that one in the stands in the bottom of the ninth and Pujols hits the following pitch to deep left center. Just a few heart palpitations at that point!

Manny Ramirez had a big night. He finally got his World Series homer in the top of the first, and made a great run saving throw to home plate in the bottom of the first.

It was the Pedro of old on the mound. I think that Schilling's heroics inspired him. Francona made one of the understatements of the year in the post game interview when he said (of Martinez) "He has a history of being pretty good."

I'd like to think that Suppan's base running error in the third inning will go on to be the lasting memory of this Series, like Pesky's holding the ball in the Red Sox loss to the Cardinals in the 7th game of the 1946 Series.

If they blow this series after taking a 3-0 lead, it will hurt more than any other. Maybe that's what The Bambino is waiting for.

What's next??? An Arctic front crossing the River Styx into Hades, a politician telling the truth, or all registers open @ the Wal-Mart. Who would have thunk it!!! The curse may just be over.

However, no team had overcome a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series in baseball until this years Red Sox. Will the Cardinals become the 2nd team to do so? I don't think so, but after all, they are the Red Sox.

GO SOX!!!!!!

I still don't have any Stars and baseball season is just about over--and no talks scheduled--the lockout has more days than I have posts!!!

So what you are saying Ed is, the curse doesn't really kick in until after the Sox win their third game of the series. That's when all bets and eyes turn to the Bambino. Like I said, one down.[swg]

That's the insidious nature of "The Curse". It's not that they're not competitive, they should win the series, and probably should have won back in '46, '67, and '86. Each time they took it to Game 7. Each time they had their fan's hopes up. Each time they just missed................

Well Sox fans, that's one, but I guess they're good at that part. It's winning four games that they can't seem to do.[swg]
