mikelhh I'd suggest you go to cgtextures.com and print out some of their buildings on card or on paper attached to card. They won't take up any room. They have landscapes too, so you might be able to find some suitable greenery to use. You can even blur the images first if you have something like Paintshop Pro, so they look farther away. Mike

I do have the sky painted on a pc. of masonite. This layout combines a small NE seaport with possibly a cranberry bog, so I don't think mountains would be apropriate, but thanks for responding.
Good mountains are easy for a talented artist.
You might try the local schools for art students or if you have a local art club, someone there might do a good job of a custom background. Some will do such things as practice and charge only materials.
Have the background done on a separate piece of masonite so it can be changed if necessary without damaging the wall.

I am working on a narrow HOn3 switching layout. I painted a passable sky background, but being narrow my structures have to go almost to the backdrop. It looks strange with the sky showing thru between the buildings. I have used shallow relief structures on my other layout, but not enough room here. Checked the web for background pictures, but none of them look right for me. Any suggestions? Thanks
