I'm not suprised.

I could never understand the logic of shipping a number of small items inside a larger than needed box just so the Walthers flyer could be included in the shipment. Walthers has often done this when shipping to me, and they have usually used a big enough box that the flyer didn't even have to be folded!

What they really need to do is have an option for requesting that they not ship a hard copy of the catalogue with your order.

yeah, I noticed this as well. The N scale section had some good stuff. that heljian warehouse with a dock might earn a spot on my module.

The biggest effect the Walthers Flyer has on me is to remind me how much more would be available if I were to switch to HO.  (Not going to happen anytime soon.  I like longer trains in limited space.)

I love Skyline Chili dogs and Coney Island hot dogs

I would kill for skyline right now, its just not the same out of a can.  Did you also notice the prices?  I heard that they nixed the hobby shop discount on a lot of items.

Got my Walthers Flyer for June 2014 on Tuesday - It Shrunk! The previous copies were 8 1/2" by 7" - The new one is only 6" wide. Just like the candy bar - it is shrinking!

Yeah, it went from 'landscape' to 'portrait'.

My LHS is on the way to the beer and wine store. Of course, if I included those purchases in the cost of trains, my hobby costs would be much higher, too.

I'm not a drinking man but,I love Skyline Chili dogs and Coney Island hot dogs with their yummy hot dog sauce. Can't go to Mansfield for any reason without the must stop like I mention.

52 miles round trip is unneeded wear on my old '95 Buick Le Sabre(158,00 miles with very low maintenance) especially when the shop needs to order the needed items at full MSRP.I can do that myself.

My LHS is only a few miles away, and, unless it's a larger-than-usual purchase, shipping is more than the sales tax I have to pay.  My LHS is on the way to the beer and wine store.  Of course, if I included those purchases in the cost of trains, my hobby costs would be much higher, too.

I too prefer the on line version as I do MR magazine.

For me the I like the swish noise when you "turn" a page, It just adds a little something extra. I miss that with MR magazine. Crying

I prefer the on line issue instead of a bunch of paper piling up on my coffee table..

I do order some items from Walthers instead of my not so LHS.

Not only is the overall size smaller, the photos and font size are smaller as well. Not quite magnifying glass small, but getting there for my old eyes.

I pick mine up at my LHS.  I've signed up for it many times.  I get a few, and then they stop coming in the mail.  I always order through my LHS, to save on shipping, so they don't see me as a "customer."

Not a big fan of viewing it online.  I keep mine on the bedside table.  (No, I do not read it under the covers with a flashlight.)

But, when they go out of date, I have a way of recycling them.  I take them to the dentist's or doctor's office and put them in the magazine rack.  They need something better than Parenting, Golf Digest and Time Magazines from the Hoover administration.

When I get it, I leave it in the bathroom- one never knows if it might be needed!

I noticed that too, Jim. They also, of course, have an online version but I just like being able to sit back and browse through it, as I go through it several times to see if there's anything I can't live without.

Most likely due to the increased cost of paper and printing -- not exactly cheap.  Walthers must spend at least a thousand dollars on that publication each month, when you add in the postage costs.  The reduced size may have something to do with USPS charges.
