Open a free account at Photobucket.com. It's easy and only takes a few minutes. Once this is done you click the 'Upload' icon at the top of the PB screen. An uload screen appears and you can drag and drop your photos onto it. When they're uploaded scroll to the top and click 'Library'. You uploaded photos will be displayed in several rows as thumbnail photos. Click on the photo you want to upload to the forum. That photo will load. To the right of it will be a list of links listed as 'Email & IM', 'Direct', 'HTML', etc. The link you're interested in is the 'IMG' link. Be careful though because there are two. 'IMG' and 'IMG Thumbnail'. You want 'IMG'. Click on 'IMG'. The link will highlight for a second and 'Copied' will be displayed. Come back to your post, right click, select paste and the link will appear in the reply box. Finish your post and click 'Submit Reply'.

For some reason, copy and paste works for me.

John:

As others have mentioned, you cannot upload photo's directly to a thread on the forum. You can, however, upload directly to the "Photo Galleries" section of the MRR website. If you want to do that, click on "Photo Galleries" under the "Community" heading at the top of the page, then click on "Submit a Photo to This Gallery" when the page opens.

You need to start with an online photo sharing site like Photobucket.com or UTube. Once you upload photos there, you copy & paste the image link into your post

For instance, in Photobucket, using a IMG link that looks like this

[ IMG]http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q301/ggpaine/Model%20Railroad/Greenvale%20Junction/FortinbrasFurniture.jpg[/IMG]

(I have added a space in the first IMG bracket so the photo will not post twice)

You get a linked photo like this

You cannot upload photos to this website (cs.trains.com).  You have to upload your photos to some other website.  Then you "link" from your post on this website to the website holding your photo.  "Link" is the tool bar icon of a short (three links) chain.  Click on it and it asks for a "URL" which is a web address, a long string of letters, starting off with www.  You get the necessary URL off the photosite.  Do control-C to copy the address of the photosite and Control V to pop it up into the URL box of the link icon.  I use Photobucket for my photo website, it's free.  I expect any website will work.

Hello,

Having a little problem uploading images.  What is the secret?  Would appreciate any help here.  Not the brightest light bulb on the tree when it comes to this stuff.
