That's one great up front review..None the less if one was cheap enough it would be a good buy for those on a budget other then that.

Bachmann has the diagram available from their website now, and it uses the same chassis as their upgraded SD45 and 8-40C/CW, so I would expect it to be an excellent runner. My 8-40CW is a super smooth and strong runner, and has given me absolutely no trouble whatsoever. The detail appears to be pretty basic, with most of the parts and grab irons molded on.
The suggested retail price by Bachmann is $300, which is the same as the Genesis model with sound. I wonder why they're charging so much (at least the dealers will have heavy discounts)?

Only a suggested price. Bachmann knows there are some who don't know how to shop online.

I'm sure there are plenty of places that will have 30%, 40%, or even bigger discounts like on all the other Bachmann products. I just wonder why the suggested retail is so expensive is all.
Just checked and M. B. Klein's has the ones with sound on sale for $159.99. They are a very old and reliable seller, I have been delaing with them for years.
