Joined a club, built a quarry scene
Posted by ARTHILL on Friday, March 28, 2014 8:42 PM

A new club opened by my house and I was running out of room in my train room so I joined. They were just starting the scenery stage. One of the planned scenes was an old quarry in Waite Park Mn that started as a granite quarry and when the good rock ran out turned into a gravel pit that still provides crushed rock for ballast. Here are three pics of what I built out of two inch foam. You can see the original quarry and then the loading area for the crusher. There is also an old granite pit that I modeled, though it is now full of water. It was a fun project.

If you think you have it right, your standards are too low. my photos http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/ARTHILL/ Art

Looked at your photos. Admire your sky backdrops muchly. I have little artistic talent in this area.

Whoa! Has anyone gotten vertigo standing to close to that!?  Nice, unusual scene.

Art,

Nice work on that quarry.Thumbs UpYes Impressive size, too, a lot like the real thing and hard to always capture in the model.
