My external speakers will vibrate the windows at half volume.

The prototype railroad one block from my house shakes my windows too. Modeling in N scale I just cannot see a speaker the size of a dime shaking my windows like the real thing does.

Sorry to say that things like that come to HO first because of the numbers of customers. Good reliable sound is just now getting widespread in HO.

numbers of customers don't have anything to do with the fact that N scale models don't have the space under the hood to fit a speaker.

As for Quality... pffft come on. It's called adjusting the volume so it don't sound so darn poor.

But,Gary, some want the sound so high it sound more like white noise then anything..

As far as video sound..I guess that will depend on if you use the computer's speaker, quality external stereo speakers or quality headphones.

My external speakers will vibrate the windows at half volume.Yeah, they're overkill but, really makes locomotives sound like you're trackside..My headphones isn't those wimpy tiny things they sell for $5.00 at Wally World either..

The Jurassic record and tape stereo age taught me well..Laugh

I'm still toying with the volume, I think I have it set perfectly at the moment.

Just lack of space.

All I want are actual DCC freindly frames like Kato or intermountains where there's minimal space adjustment work and you don't have to send the frame off to get milled.

As for Quality... pffft come on. It's called adjusting the volume so it don't sound so darn poor. videos don't do sound equipped units much justice either, as my E7 sounds better in real life then through computer speakers.

It is technjcally feasible with quality components...then many don't want to pay the price.....

I agree. I would love more N Scale sound equipped locomotives.

The lack of sound with quality DCC in smaller first generation diesels and switchers has been the biggest hold up in my switching to N scale.  I would love to see more ready-to-run engines already equipped with noise!

ESU makes  N Scale sound decoders which doesn't sound to bad..It is highly possible to add first generation diesel sounds.

Think there a couple of reasons.  They have gotten motor control decoders small enough to put in N scale, but there is little room for a speaker.  Also, smalll speakers don't produce the sound quality that is desired.  They have come a long way in sound quality of HO in the last few years, but I think speaker size is probably the biggest thing holding N scale back.

Just my thoughts.

Have fun,

Richard

Why anyway?  With all of our advancement in miniaturization of electronics one would think that N-scale would be rapidily following what's become standard in larger scales.
