It's a shame.

To my knowledge, Kalmbach has never publicly responded to all of these problems and all of the threads relating to these problems.

Worse, only the MR forums use this new software.

I will bet that the MR forums are the most visited, by members and non-members.

Yet, we are the most neglected and the most mistreated.

I just don't get it.

my computer is running Windows XP, and I'm using, when it doesn't freeze-up, Mozilla Firefox.

I use Windows XP as well for my operating system, but I use Google Chrome as the browser.  So, as I suspect, the browser is probably the difference.

Rich

I use the same computer, the same operating system, the same browser, and the same image hosting sight I have been using for years.  The only variable here is that Kambach has changed the forum software.

THAT is where the problem is.

I tried using Chrome and it made no difference.

As much as I enjoy sharing pictures, I doubt very much I'd bother if I had to use the method which works for you - just too many steps, especially after having had it so easy for so long.

Wayne, I am not so sure that there are "just too many steps".  My explantion, further up in this thread, is long because I felt it necessary to be methodical.

In fact, there are only three steps.

One, in Photobucket, Copy the link in the Direct box in the section titled Link To Share This Photo.

Two, in the forum Reply box, click on the Insert Edit/Image icon.

Three, Paste the link into the Source box and click OK.

It seems to be that the second step in my procedure is the one extra step over your 2-step Coy and Paste.

....Remind me, what is your operating system and browser?

I'm not sure - the terminology has never seemed logical to me, although I do know the answer, just not which answer belongs to which part of the question.   Laugh  Normally, I run on Bushmills and my browsers are blue. Stick out tongue

However, my computer is running Windows XP, and I'm using, when it doesn't freeze-up, Mozilla Firefox.

As much as I enjoy sharing pictures, I doubt very much I'd bother if I had to use the method which works for you - just too many steps, especially after having had it so easy for so long. Smile, Wink & Grin

Gotta be the combination of browser and operating system.

Just tried Wayne's method, no blue line, so it does work as well. Now I'm aware of two methods of posting pic's for one forum. Let's see which one I forget first!Bang Head

Wayne, I tried your method.

My picture got posted, but then my follow up text was underlined in blue.

A click on the blu underlined text took me into my entire Photobucket libaray.

It must be the combined effect of one's operating system and browser.

Remind me, what is your operating system and browser?

Just a note to let everyone know that MR did reply to my e-mail concerning this problem, and included the procedure for posting photos in a manner in which the descriptive text does not become a link, which is pretty-much the method outlined by Rich.

For me, it's still easier to copy the img line of data (one click), then paste it here (another click).  No blue text and no links.  Smile, Wink & Grin

I too was having the problem, so I'm trying your instructions.

Let's see. Don't see any blue lines. Good it worked!

That's great! Thanx Rich! Seems that each forum I'm a member of has different instructions to do the same thing, put a picture into the body of the post. Just hope I can remember this for the next time.

What I will be curious to learn is whether someone cannot post photos without the blue underlined text occurring.

Hopefully, that won't be the case.

Let me see if I can make this easier and clearer.

The link itself is critical to success.  The link that you copy and paste from Photobucket should begin with

http://i***.photobucket.com/..................................jpg

If you examine that link, it begins with http://i

The three asterisks are the unique number of your photo followed by photobucket.com

The dots are the rest of the link, ending with jpg.

If you have copied that type of link, you are halfway there.

***********************************************************************************

To find and copy that link in Photobucket, look for the box on the right side of the Photobucket page that is titled:

Link to share this photo

You need to see the link in the box titled Direct (not IMG).

If you do not see the Direct box, look for it elsewhere on the page.

If the Direct box is not there, there go back to the Link to Share this Photo box and click on *Update Link Options.

On the Update Link Options page, make sure that there is a check mark in the box marked

Links - Direct Link

Also, it is helpful but not critical that there is a check mark in the box marked

Easy Linking Mode - Turn on Easy Linking Mode

********************************************************************************

OK, not back to the forum Reply (or Post) box

Now that your link is Copied, you need to Paste it.

Click on the Insert/edit image (not Insert/edit link) icon

Paste the link into the Source (not image description) box

Click OK

This results in the actual photo image appearing in the Reply (or Post) box.

If the photo image does not appear, but the link itself does, it is not going to work.  You need to see that photo image

**********************************************************************************

Here is one last piece of advice.

Before you paste the link into Insert/edit image, hit the Enter key a few times to create some extra lines after the photo image to type text.  With those extra lines created, hit the Backspace key once or twice to move the cursor back up for the photo image insertion.  By creating those extra lines, it is a lot easier to type text.

Remember, the critical consideration here is to copy a link in Photobucket in Direct mode that begins with http://i

Good luck.  This has to work for everybody.

Garry,

What browser are you using?

Rich

I'm using the old Dell with Firefox. .... I might try the Apple with its Safari.

Actaully, I got it to work. Then I edited to add a comment at the bottom. That change my photo to a link to the photo in Photobucket. ... I got frustrated and quit.

In Firefox I just followed Marlon's instructions.

I hope this works. Thanks to all who have been investigating this.

I'm gonna try it Rich's way...

It's always nice to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.   Laugh

Just call me, Mr. Wonderful.   Bow

So, does anyone still have the blue underlined text problem?

Rich

Ok, Rich, you da man! Bow Nope, posting pics the way you suggested works like a charm. It's too bad they didn't program the new forum software to make things more user friendly like it had been in the past.

Wayne, I agree with your wife. As a former programmer/analyst, I've come to severely dislike new programmers. New operating systems, programs, etc. that expects the end users to do the debugging (are you listening Microsoft??)!!

Wayne,

Modern life, I guess. I agree, but I've been putting up with it since the forum update, tried multiple times and things, just finally tried the right combination of things. Frankly, lots of software is poorly documented, as my wife, the programmer, attest over beers with a colleague of hers who we were out with. Sometimes there are "clues" but mostly pretty hit or miss. Glad I finally hit. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?Laugh

Mike,

Don't be down on yourself. I'm certainly not going to go all Lord of the Flies on you.Pirate I did the best I could and didn't figure it out until today myself. Of course, there's likely to be an update next week that leaves us lost again...Whistling

Well, I'm glad to see that a solution has been found, but it still seems convoluted compared to the simple click and paste operation which works for me.

OK, great, your not going to believe this......someone give me a huge "Gibs"......all of you guys!  I was using the "Insert/edit link"    not "Image"  So now I can't wait to try this:

OK, lets see.

Mike.

EDIT:  OK people, get in line....I need a good swift "Gibs" from all of you.  I was using the wrong link.  Oh, ahhh, just in case you never has watched NCIS, a "Gibs" is a quick, upward slap on the back of the head!

Charlie Brown's archnemesis!

Hey, it worked... Ok.. here are the steps that worked.

  1. From Photobucket, click on the image to be posted.
  2. On the right side of the picture, click on "Direct".
  3.  In the thread/post, click on the "Insert/edit image" icon from the menu.
  4. Paste the URL in the "Source" box.
  5. Image is inserted, type description.
