I have an Athearn Genesis SD75M (BNSF stock no. G6176). Even with the exploded diagram it's not much help in removing the shell. Can anyone help?

A lot of detail on that engine, so be careful.
Remove couplers.
To remove the body from the mechanism, cradle the underframe at the fuel tanks with one hand, grasp the long hood just below the ''Q'' fan openings with the thumb and forefinger of the other hand. squeeze, then carefully lift and twist the body slightly. The long hood should separate from the walkway. Be careful, as there are wires to the front and rear lights that will still be attached to the mechanism. I managed to do three, without breaking anything. Like I said lot of detail, just looks intimidating. Have Fun!
