modeling a GP-10

One of my favorite railroads, a regional in western Oklahoma called Farmrail, operates a roster almost entirley made up of ex Illinoise Central GP-10 si there an easy way to model these ? Thanks !

Easy way? Yes: someone is currently working on the masters for a drop-on resin shell of the GP-10 (well, the most-built version, anyway) to get plopped onto a P2K chassis. It won't be cheap though, with a quoted price in the $50-$100 range. The inexpenxive but time-consuming way to model a GP-10 is to invest in Canon & Co. parts. Funny, we can get models of oddball engines like DL-109s and CF-7s, but a simple GP-10, owned by more than EIGHTY railroads, is almost impossible to get ahold of, except in brass.....

March and April 1975 Railroad Model Craftsman had articles on making these from the Athearn GP7. I have the March issue, but not the April. The March issue also contains prototype drawings of these units. I have been using the article as reference during the building of my SD10. It appears that a lot of the parts that needed to be scratcbuilt back them are now available from various manufacturers. I know Detail Associates offers the Horst air filter, along with correct exhaust stacks. If you can't locate these magazines, I can make copies of the one I have if you contact me.
