Frank, thank you for the advice on the word "Milled".  That would never have occurred to me.

Bob, that's a grand idea for using the sections.  The idea of creating display tracks is now zipping around in my noggin.

This is one of the reasons I love this forum!  So much knowledge, so many great ideas, so many excellent suggestions.  Plus, there's some awesome pictures posted here.  Stick out tongue

I still have one box of the 24" long straight roadbed with ties. I use them for my display cases, just have to add the rail, which I get from old sections of Code 100 flex track. These are great for the display case.

Dragenrider,

Hint: Use  the term, MILLED Tru-Scale Wood Tie Roadbed, without rails and Plain milled Tru-Scale Wood Roadbed, when You advertise them. I have used them both, years ago, spiked my own c100 brass track, on fibre ties. Looked great and was easy to do.

I have a mish-mash of sizes and types.  Some of the Tru Scale roadbeds are simply the ties, others have the tie plates.  It's great to know that some folks are still interested.  Now, if I can just find the right buyer at the next train show...  Huh?

My MRR club has some that was donated.  If anybody is interested I'll furnish an inventory.  I do know it's got the ties and tieplates milled into it and it's light gray.  contact me through our club website: fsmrrc.org.  We'll charge a modest fee to cover shipping and handling.

Is it the kind that is just pure roadbed, or the kind with ties and a sort of tie plate milled in?  If the latter, then I can tell you it is a good way to learn how to handlay rail -- you are sort of being hand-held what with those milled tie plates but it is still a good first step.  if you have an interest in learning how, keep it and practice on it.

I can easily imagine there are guys with Tru Scale who like it, use it on their layout, and wish they could get some more so they can expand or alter their layouts.  If you can manage to find such guys, you'd be doing yourself and them a favor by selling the stuff at a swap meet.  But I can tell you that I often just see the stuff sit (having said that, I see it sit and often it is in bad condition, warped etc.)

OH NO! Don't burn it! By all means try the trains shows. Stuff like that is gold to the nostalgic modelers. Those in this hi-tech world that want to run and show model railroading as it was 30-40 or more years ago. This is one of many reasons I've stayed with DC, code 100, analog signaling...etc.

Someone out there would want it.

Tru Scale Wooden Roadbed Market?
Posted by dragenrider on Friday, January 17, 2014 1:53 PM

Hello to all my fellow modelers!  Big Smile

I have two or three large boxes of various configurations of Tru Scale wooden roadbed, minus the rails.  Most of it is new and or lightly used.  I have no need of these and would like to see the roadbed go to good use.  A quick check of eBay has been uninformative.  Is there anyone who still uses these old roadbeds?  Would it be worthwhile to try to sell these at a train show?  Or would I do better to use them as starter fuel in my wood stove?

Thanks!
