lima/rivarossi takeover

some of you seem to think that because hornby have all but taken over rivarossi that the brand is dead.
i dont think you could be father from the truth. rivarossi is a respected brand in the us lima s respected on the continent so what on earth makes you think they will throw that away.

you can bet your life that they are going to give other manufacturers in those countrys a run for their money. and as for all those limited editions you have all bought..... ha ha!!!!!! like the new management are just going to leave those moulds to collect dust!!!!!

look at it this way. they have decent moulds. they have far better quality control that they have ever had before, they have 2 factory (one in china and one is spain). and some of hornbys new models (notably the class 50 and the gresley teak coaches) are arguably some of the best in the world.

do you seriously think they are going to let rivarossi lye down and dye?????????????????????????????????

not a chance

prepare for battle!!!!!!!

After years of fairly conservative development, Bachmann UK have pushed Hornby into making some really good and innovative products, including live steam in British OO. With Rivarossi as the entry to the US market, maybe live steam HO will follow. Hornby will be a company to watch in the near future. They are improving their steam models dramatically - the same work on the UP FEF-3 or even the NYC Hudson would result in beautiful models.

I think we're going to see models that will scare BLI, Lifelike Proto, and the other big names. Hornby have been producing RTR steamers in recent years that look as good as professionally-built kits, and run better, for about a quarter of the price of having a kit built to order. These standards applied to Rivarossi locos should be spectacular. Interestingly we should also see a return of the Arnold range, as the tooling for this is included in the Lima sale. Hopefully it'll be the same quality but at more sensible prices when it re-appears!

After Rivarossi introduced the H-8, I surely thought it'd be followed by A DMIR Yellowstone or some other famous articulated. But now, I guess its no dice.....

Perhaps they will re-introduce all the old models with more detail and new tooling. I'd love a Big Boy or a Berkshire.
