1: The voltage output of any DCC system is approximately 14 Volts DC with a high-frequency square-wave AC component. The theory of DCC is that a constant DC voltage is on the track with the DCC control signal, which is square-wave AC, superimposed onto it.
2: According to data provided by Bachmann, they are going to provide an add-on 5 Amp booster for people who need more than 1 Amp output, and this booster will require a 5A power supply, but using a 5A supply with the 1A booster will not gain you anything.
