Suggestions for operating scheme? 2
Posted by GDRMCo on Friday, October 1, 2004 4:13 AM
This is like the other post but I have a different reason for posting this. I have been planning a new model rr for the past couple of weeks and have not yet come up with a plan I think will work. First what I would like. I have been planning to model a protofreelanced version of the Queensland Rail in Townsville. I would like to include a small station for passenger/commuter trains and a industrial switching area to be most of the layout with the rest being a locomotive/rolling stock facility. I plan to model it in HOn3 to represent QRs 3'6" track. It will be set in the present and will have full catenery over all track. Now the problem is that I have decided to use the Layout Cabinet/ Folding Benchwork idea in the Sept MR. My dad and I have made it smaller but not to small. It will be 1.87m tall, 1.37m wide and 50cm deep. When unfolded it will be 2.25m deep. So I will have a 1.33x2.25m layout. I hope all of what I have mentioned will fit into the area I will have.
1. Do you think this could fit and/or give some suggestions and help as to what I could have and what will not fit in the area I have planned.
2. I might be able to plan the layout/trackplan from an operating scheme which I have done before on a small layout.
3. Am I nuts?

1) What you describe seemes similar to an old layout of mine, so it should be doable
2) There is not a question here
3) Can't make a diagnosis from this post. But given the information here, you are no more "nuts" than anyone else in this forum.

I am not (nor would I guess most of the posters here) that familiar with Australian railroads, though I have gotten a little more interested in the last few months due to stumbling across some equipment and routes for MSTS. That may be discouraging a more thought out or helpful reply.
