Peco track and switches

Hi. I was wondering if there was any advice for Peco track and swiches for HO scale. I live in Canada and have a relative going to England in a week or so and assuming they can be bought cheaper there, is there any recomendations for code and turnout size etc. I'm going to have a medium size layout approx. 18 ft x 10 ft. Do you also recommend the Peco track?

I use Peco alot and think they are an excellent product. However you will have to determine what your needs are depending on your radius. My favourite is their doublecurved turnouts. As far as I can figure their No. system is a bit different then the N.A. one of No. 4's and 6's etc.

I would suggest that you also get the in-line switch that will control control board indicators and/or signals.

We use Peco code 100 medium Insulfrog turnouts almost exclusively on the Cochise & Western Model Railroad Club's layout and have never had a single problem with any of them, not even the double slip switches. The way our layout is constructed, the vast majority of turnouts can be reached to throw by hand, so Pecos were chosen for that reason with their positive spring throw mechanism, as well as their appearance and quality.

The two go hand-in-hand as the solenoid has no lock mechanism to keep it from shifting.

Peco track is the best! If you're looking to have someone go to the UK to pick up trackwork for you, only have them buy switches. Flextrack can be found all over the place for little money, but the prices on the switches can break the bank.

I use Peco's code 75 line. Most average hobbiests with large layouts that I know use Peco code 100 switches and Atlas code 100 flex.
