Jeffrey and Wayne, thanks for the info. I had my Sister and brother in-law over for dinner last night and told her I was going to buy one of these slide scanners and they said that bought one at Costco about six months ago for about a hundred bucks. They said I could use it anytime. Talk about luck.
Frank, Very cool having those old cars. My neighbour has eleven antique cars, all with spoke wheels. He has a steam car that makes a really loud whistle the whole time he's driving it. You hear him coming a mile away. Once a year there is a meet of some sort held at his house and we get all these old cars (maybe a hundred) come into the neighbourhood on trailers. People from all over the U.S. and Canada. They then unload and go on a day long road trip somewhere. Many hang out for the whole weekend. Even though it turns the neighbourhood upside down it is a lot of fun.
You will have to post more pics down the road.

I have an Epson V100. It does only 35mm as slides (4 at a time) or negatives (as strips), but it will also do prints up to 9"x12", and the cover will accommodate books if you wish to scan text or images from them. It also does colour correction, and allows you to clean-up the image and scan it in various resolutions. There's a reconditioned one HERE for under fifty bucks.

BATMANJeffrey, I'd love to be able to take all my parents old slides and put them on the computer. There are lots of old layout pics in there from when I was a wee laddy. What is a decent scanner for the task and what am I going to pay for such a beast.

richhotrainHa, you ought to live in Chicago and be a Cubs fan. Last time they were in the World Series was 1871, the same year as the Chicago Fire.

Well when I was a young lad I was a fan of the Maple Leafs but I'm not much of a fan of hockey any more. My father was a die hard fan of the Canucks since their inception, it would have been nice for him to see them win the cup before he passed on a few years ago.
The Canucks were up near my home a few weeks ago for a fund raising fishing derby and my sons school went to meet them which was pretty cool. They played a little floor hockey with the kids and signed a few autographs, I think my son is now a Canuckle head like his Grandpa!

heheheheh, break out the popcorn folks and lets watch some hockey!

Is it just me?
Or have others noticed that Frank's avatar is a blatant plagiarism of several other forum members avatar?
heheheheh, just gonna leave this here. Sure Batman lets make it an annual thing!
If anyone was to steal my Avatar of my favourite locomotive, New Zealand Government Railways Ja 1267, I'd suggest that they were persons of great taste and perspicacity, a bit like Frank I guess.
Cheers, the Bear.
Since I stole mine (I forget where), you can steal it from me. And if you make it better then I'll steal it from you.

Guy Papillon ................When I choosed my avatar for this forum I placed myself in the third category because I wanted to show what I was modeling. Everyone can tell that my avatar doesn’t belong to me. It is the logo the Canadian National Railway put on their cabooses in the 40’s to mid 50’s. I took the photo of one of my cabooses and edited it on my computer. But still, it doen’t belong to me. I was nevertheless surprised when I saw that, a few days ago, M_Robinson plagiatized my avatar by « Right click\copy » it. Was I upset? the answer is YES. It that dramatic? The answer is NOT AT ALL. Is it important? NO, as I can change my avatar whenever I want. And that is what I will do to preserve my identity...................................

Guy, I wouldn't get too upset about it: I made this one for a friend, and he's been using it for at least five years.
