There's actually a tool for that.  Kadee sells "trip pin pliers."  If you're going to get a pair, get the coupler gauge, too.

The pliers are a gadget for the guy who wants tools.  Yeah, I have them.  But, honestly, they don't do the job any better than a pair of needle-nose pliers.

The coupler gauge - priceless.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Just bend the "air hose" up.  Its a common adjustment.  Takes 10 secs.

Take it back to the store you bought it from. Tell them to fix it or replace it.

Train lines dragging on new GE ES44AC
Posted by Steam Train on Saturday, September 14, 2013 1:25 PM

Just purchased a new Athearn ES44AC from my local hobby shop.  Love everything about it with the exception of the front & rear "Train line" hoses two long and catch switch rails.

Any ideas of how to solve the problem short of cutting off the glad hand & painting the tip silver.

Appreciate any advice.
