problem with Kadee trucks
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 23, 2004 3:32 PM
I recently got Kadee #500 Bettendorf trucks and when I put them on the car kept coming off the track on switches and rerailers which the car didn't do before. When looking closely at the wheels they seem to move around much more because of the springiness of the trucks. Has anyone seen this problem before? If so how could I remedy it? I really like the quality of the trucks but don't like the fact they can't stay on the track. Thanks for you help.

SOMETHING is wrong. 'Springiness' is not your problem.

Suggest to contact Sam Clarke at Kadee. he's their 'point man'.

Have you checked the wheels with an NMRA standards gauge? I always check all wheelsets.
Good luck

I changed all of my Kadee truck wheelsets to LBF and they run much better than with the Kadee wheelsets. As I was going through all of my rolling stock, I wound up scrapping several Kadee Bettendof trucks because they had too much free play and the wheelsets sometimes fell out. I don't use Kadee trucks any more. If I need to change trucks, I use Proto 2000, Atlas, or Kato.

I agree with cacole. Kadee trucks sure look good in photos but I have had too many problems with them staying on the track. Atlas, LL, ConCor and Bowser trucks dominate my fleet.

If it has an X in it, it sucks! And yes, I just had my modeler's license renewed last week!
