All I can say is WOW!!!! What a comeback the Bruins made last night. The bruins are Boston Strong!!! I was going to turn the game off in the third when they were down 4 to 1. I'm glad I kept it on!!

Too bad the Ducks didn't win. They could have ended up playing the Sharks. Seeing a Sharks logo on that mighty garden railway of Matts would have been fun.Laugh

Laugh Yeah but in a series between the two the Ducks would have prevailed.
Thing is the Ducks would have won a series against any team in the west except the Red Wings, or possibly Kings.  Both teams seemed to have our number this year.  So of course we got the Red Wings in the first round.  Man am I happy to see them go to the East.  And if we had won that series next up would have been the Kings...another tough matchup.  In fact the only favorable matchup I saw lining up was against the Blackhawks in the conference final.  Yes I didn't see the Sharks getting past the Blackhawks...if the Ducks had won against Detroit.

hahaha, must not be many hockey fans around here!

I didn't see that, I don't have twitter just the book of face.

I hope the sharks get in we can't afford to lose any steam, and not make it.

oh no my sharks will be eating king for dinner before the final round!

Gary, there doesn't appear to be any Kings fans out there that are prepared to back there team and have a little wager with you. I would love to see that San Jose logo plying its way around an LA train guys layout.Laugh

I think the Sen's are toast against the Penquins. But what do I know, I haven't been right about anything so far. Well except maybe with the Canucks and Sharks. In that case, one still has to back the home team. Sigh
Did you see that Luongo tweeted "Reimer # 1 for Sochi"? I just don't think Lui wants the job again as he is on the short list.

Brian, Brent,

I could not believe it. I was all excited that the Leafs were going to advance, then in less than a minute it was "Oh CRAP!" What a heartbreaker. I was happy though when not much later the Ranger shutout the Crapitals.

I have a feeling it is going to be the Pens and the Bruins in the East and the Blackhawks and Kings in the West after this round.

Can the Kings repeat? I hope not.

Like your new avatar Bubbles, ummm I mean Brian.

 Brian.

What a heart breaker!

We have had an old saying out here since the Canucks have been in the NHL. It goes like this,

"we'll get 'em next year".Laugh

We'll have to get on Gary's bandwagon and support the Sharks.

Well this sucks.  My Anaheim Ducks are already out.  If I knew they were going to loose I would have preferred a sweep rather than loose a game 7 at home.  Heartbreaking for such an amazing season.  Not the way I wanted to see Teemu retire.

Guess I have lots of time to play with trains now.

When you say about the numbers of Leafs fans who come over to Buffalo for games I know it is the truth. It just doesn't have to be Leafs vs. Sabres games either. I used to travel up to Buffalo for a game or two every year. I was a Sabres fan back in the mid 90's and it didn't matter who was playing, there was always a huge number of leafs jerseys in the crowd. The last game I went to at the Aud was a Sabres/Canucks game. It was Mogilny's first game back in Buffalo since he became a Canuck. That was a good game. Last game I went to in Buffalo was a Sabres/Hurricanes game and it was somewhere around 1998. Geez, now that I think about it the last NHL game I went to was Pens/Bruins at the Igloo in 2007! Haven't been to an OHL (Erie Otters) game since 2004. I have gone to a number of SPHL (Knoxville Ice Bears) games over the last few years though.

My only brushes with greatness was when I met Bryan Trottier at a youth hockey game near Pittsburgh. The other was the night my adult league team and a pond hockey team rented the Johnstown War Memorial my defense partner was "Dave." Dave came to the game with Dan, one of our players who just showed up on occasion. When we were playing I recognized Dave was pretty good. Other than that I had no idea who Dave was. At the next game Dan asked me how I liked playing with Dave. I said, "it was fun. What is Dave's last name?" Dan replies, "Hanson, like in the Hanson Brothers!" And of course I didn't get a single pic or an autograph with him. DOH!

Brent!

That's really neat. I'm glad to see that people in those lofty positions will take time for the little guy, and by that I mean all of us. And, for what its worth, if your son beat Pat Burns at the trivia game he should have kept the medal!LaughLaugh

Great pictures.

Dave

EDIT: Did I get that wrong? Is that Pat Quinn?

YEEEEEAAAAA!!!!! LEAFS.

Now that was exciting hockey.

I think those old geezer Bruins are starting to fade against the youngest team in the leaque. Can't wait to watch tomorrow.

I have to admit I liked seeing Milan lucic score for Boston. A good ol Vancouver boy. Been watching him since he was a tad pole. Three years with the Vancouver giants makes us fans. I hope he's not to prosperous in the goal department tomorrow though.

Dave I was a huge Leafs fan as a kid before the Canucks got in the NHL. I was always either Jim Dorey or Tim Horton on the pond.Laugh

As far as going to games it is a big commitment in time for us. By the time we drive in to Vancouver, see the game and come home, it is seven or eight hours and the kids are getting busy as they get older. We do have connections that die hard Hockey fans would kill for and thus paying for tickets and a parking spot in Rogers arena isn't an issue for this blue collar guy. Some years we make it to more games than others.

My son has been able to meet a lot of very famous people at the games. His favourite is this guy, they spew trivia questions at each other until Pat gives up.Laugh On this night Pat let him wear his Gold Medal for the evening. He almost forgot to give it back.Laugh

Great times with the kids at the games.

And to keep it train related.

Brent!

Great idea for a thread!

Lots of fun comments.

As for me, I am a diehard Leafs fan! Have been since Punch Imlach was the coach and Johnny Bower was in goal.

By the way, I am a cheapskate. I refuse to pay the current price to attend a game. The last game I attended was so far back that Eddie Shack was playing for the L.A. Kings (vs the Leafs), long hair and all! And, true to form, the Leafs lost.LaughLaughCryingLaugh

Dinosaur you say!?! Yep!

Thanks for the fun!

Lets hope you will be a happy camper again today. That was a good show by the Leafs on Friday. I'll be watching tonight. I really thought St.Louis was going to go to at least the third round. Oh well, what do I know.

Big diesel, little diesel.

Gary me? Gary that doesn't love steamers? I was all diesel until I got a 4-8-4 as my starter N scale loco now I'm looking for SP&S steam decals and locomotives I can use for SP&S steam stand ins(I'll only have a couple because steamers are expensive). That's a positive way to look at it and I agree it's a win win even if my team goes down next year.

Batman I tip my hat to you sir, shall we do this again next year?

Your on Gary! It's a win win situation. If the Canucks are triumphant I am in heaven, if the Sharks win, I get to play with my trains some more.Laugh

Very well done, Batman!  You outdid yourself in meeting the terms of the wager [ it wasn't easy counting all those Sharks logos ] . Living up to one's word is a rare quality these days. My [Sabres ] hat is off to you - something like 10 hat tricks.  Great start to what will be a fantastic layout.

Thanks Beezer. I'll have to start thinking up what prize to offer next year. I was going to put up a Brass Steamer this year, but Gary doesn't like steamers, so that was off the table.Smile, Wink & Grin

The older I get the more I enjoy (Canadian) Folk music.

I've still got a Stan Rogers CD in my car.

Mr. B

My buddy has a place on the ocean up the coast where we would go most weekends to fish. On the way, we would always stop to visit his grandfather. He was in a home called the Mariners Rest. He would tells us the stories of being in the South Pacific with the Royal Navy in WW2. I remember telling him once that I just got back from Tahiti. That got him going. He said Tahiti was the best!

Every time I here this song I think of grandpa and it brings a tear to my eye.

Thanks Brian. I have seen Valdy a few times at various venues. Canada day celebrations etc. On two different occasions ( a few years apart) I bumped into him afterwards and thanked him for a great show. I don't know him personally though.

As far as the two guitars go, after 45 years of playing, I am still good for a tight two to three hours of Gordon Lightfoot.

Anybody growing a playoff beard?

I thought of it, but my daughter graduates from college in ten days, and shaving it off while my Bruins still have a good shot at the Cup would be very bad luck.
