From Spain to Las Vegas, I don't think the Trans-Atlantic bridge is quite finished yet, you might want to check with your travel agent.
Hi
Thanks a lot for this answers. Really apreciate.
Terry many thanks for your explanation, very complete. At the moment I only know the dates of the fair. The weekend of May 25-26. I try to do some stop in NY, Chicago or Miami after the fair close.
As you comment me I see Las Vegas isn´t a rail fanatic city. But I only need some photos.
When I have more information about the fair I can see the hotel and fly.
I keep in mind your PM comment because I will use it ;-)
Regards and thanks,
Alex,
Hi and Welcome Back to Vegas! Someone has already posted 3 shops that are located in Vegas; sorry to say: that's about it for hobby shops and they're not to overly packed with stuff, but you may find something. Sorry about the limited number of hobby shops that carry model railroad items, Vegas just isn't a model railroad town. I have heard of a Garden Railroad club in town, but have seen much about them.
As someone stated, Union Pacific runs through town. They have an office near Interstate 15 and Charleston Blvd. (which is a stone's throw away from downtown). With their permission, they might let you sit in the parking lot and see the trains stop, exchange crews and take pics.
They're aren't any clubs that I know of. However, the Nevada Southern Railroad has a museum in Boulder City (several miles south of Vegas) which has numerous displays and history of the railroad which was a backbone in the construction of the Hoover Dam. Here is their web site http://www.nevadasouthern.com/ Also, they used to have model railroads set up in the maintenance building on the second saturday of the month, not sure if still going on.
The Clark County Museum (just a few blocks from my house) has several displays of railroad history. They are located in Henderson on Boulder Highway (between Equestrian and Magic)
What show/fair will you be assisting in? Which hotel will you be staying? (might be able to get a room on the side that faces the tracks).
PM me if you need more info

Hi all,
Thanks for your quick reply.
This is my second time in Las Vegas. Five years ago I went with my wife. I don´t like very much casinos and I´m busy with my wife... ;-)
I try to rent a car some days.
Are there some goods train near? I would like to see some SD70ACe or locomotives like this one. Maybe some freight yard is near.
Will you have an automobile?
Ed
Every time I've been to Vegas, and I've been to Vegas over 20 times in my life. I never had time for trains. I was too busy in casinos gambling, and going to night clubs to pick up girls.
Las Vegas is nuts, if this is your first time visiting. Have fun!

The UP is the only railroad through Las Vegas. They run 9-12 trains a day through there, about half intermodal.

And maybe some shows or train fairs.
Thanks a lot,
