Stop by your local airport fixed base operator and check out his Sectional Aeronautical charts. They are meant to be navigation aids for pilots. Railroads are excellent landmarks so they are well depicted in most cases, but they are not named. Of course there is a lot of info meant for pilots - radio stations and freqs, airport info, antennas with their heights and a lot more, but you may find it interesting, especially in combination with a roadmap. You would need the Detroit and Cincinnati charts to cover all of Ohio.

Your state DOT may have maps online. The best ones will have rail lines on them. Be careful if you see an old roadname. Rand McNally sold a rail atlas of the US similar to their road atlas.

I noticed recently in one of their magazines that Carstens sells an assortment of railroad atlases by region.

Steam Powered Videos has quite a few great railroad atlases. The one you are looking for is called "Great Lakes East". It covers Michigan,Ohio, and Indiana, costs about $20.00. I have a few maps myself, even those that are from the railroads( requested them long before 9-11). I have one book published in 1980.It has all the railroads that ran in Ohio from the C&O, PC,B&O,DT&I,GTW, and the like.If you would like to have a copy of this section of the book, contact me at my e-mail,and I'll send it to you no charge.

You might try www.rr-fallenflags.org Besides plenty of loco and freight car pics many of the railroads listed include maps. They may be a little dated. I've seen Pennsylvania RR and the Erie Lavkawanna , but I'm sure there's more. A great site.

If anyone knows where one might get such a product please post a reply.
