That's not quite correct. Yes there are 8 sections, 4 with track bed and 4 without. The sections are not 12 1/2 x 5 1/2. The completed pier is 12 1/2 x 5 1/2 (consisting of 4 sections of either with or without track). There is an optional add-on pier section available also. Just wanted to make sure there is no confusion over the size. You can download the instruction sheet at Walthers for further clarification.
I have the kit. It contains 8 sections. 4 with track bed & 4 without. Each section is 12 1/2" x 5 1/2". It depends on how you set the pier up as to what the actual footprint will be. Hope this helps.
OHhhhh.... I'm going to have to clean up some real-estate, that's a lot of dock!

That's per segment Fergie. The walthers kit comes with six segments. So you can line them up making them over 36" in length.

I purchased a Walther's Pier and Traveling Crane kit (HO scale) some time ago. As I am in the process of a major expansion the kit has been placed in a safe place... So safe I'm not sure where it is .
Anyway I'm doing the design on the fly and need the "overall" measurement". According to the Walthers site the kit occupies a 12 5/8" x 5 3/4" area. Looking at the picture and going by memory this dimension seems very small. I'm thinking the size is double. can anyone please verify these dimensions.
Thanks
