Hi all,

Here's a model of the Milwaukee's Eagle Nest Tunnel and bridge my crew and I recently built on our current project, the NorthWest Trunk Lines.  We still have some vegetation and catenary to add, but the scene is about 90% complete.

This is the first week I actually have something to post for WPF.  I just started building benchwork for a 4x8 layout.  I've been out of the hobby for about 10-15 years and this layout will essentially be a practice layout to shake off the rust and so that I can have something to work on for the next couple years while I plan the dream layout.

I'll be adding a plywood top and 2" foam.  The bottom will get plywood too to act as a storage shelf.  I still haven't picked a track plan.

Despite a shortage of ammo the Guns & Tackle in Sundown is still open for business.

And I've got an old all-metal Athearn Magnolia tank car in the train now. I haven't done anything to it other than mount Kadee #148 couplers. When one of these old cars derails on a turnout the sparks will fly.

Looking good so far guys. Keep the photos and ideas coming.

Here is the full extent of Pennsylvania diesel power on the BRVRR. E8 #5713 and E8B #4121 are my latest projects for the railroad. Both units are powered and the A-unit has MRC sound.

Pennsy E8 #5713 at the head of a short 8-car passenger train passes a freight headed by F7A #9822 on the outer main line of the Black River Valley Railroad.

A good start to the best thread of the week everyone. Keep it going!

Remember its your railroad

Groovy work as always!

Today's the day of the World's Greatest Hobby show (first one in the San Francisco Bay Area)
http://www.wghshow.com/
so I've been spending the past month overhauling our other return loop, affectionately known as Eric's "Wye Knot" module, and taking it from this:

to this:

Now it's got a tipple, a quarry & a company town to service (we needed more industries) as well as a long passing siding and some basic scenery.
Fellow SVFMRer Nils terraformed the tunnel module and built the rocksild shed, then passed that section off to me to paint & throw dirt on.

Here's a quick video overview of the whole shebang so far:

IdARl8nf0k

Still a long way to go, but should look alright for the show today and tomorrow.
I'll try to grab some video of our layout at the show: should be epic with some new long modules by Nils and some other members.

Hope to see you there!
And have a happy weekend!

Thanks for all of the comments.   I"m debating on adding a few more trees, or leaving as is.  Hopefully this diorama helps make my weathered cars look better.

This is an old MDC rotary snowplow kit I just picked up  on Ebay. Didn't know it had to have a lot of custom scratch built parts to complete as well as major modifications to supplied kit. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it and was glad to get back to some real model building. I am waiting for the decal set I ordered (MOW) but had some safety stripes to add. I bult a steam boiler inside and also scratch built the headligh on top of the plow.

I appreciate seeing the work of those who are building structures.  I have two to build, but find myself thinking about other things these days.  I need to continue my new layout and get it up and running, and have been stalled for about seven months for one reason or another.  Soon..........

Carey, that's a honey of a steamer.  I am envious.

An old shot from me showing a newly shopped Union Pacific 2-10-2 backing out of its stall the last month and and onto a parking radial for some last final adjustments.

Nice work, guys.

Robby, that diorama looks so real, you could make that whole back yard look like a canyon.

This week I completed construction of a Banta freight house for my PC&KC On30 layout. Instead of using silkspan painted black for the roof I downloaded black tarpaper roofing from Clever Models. Many individual details will be added to the scene and then everything will be weathered at a later time.

Hollywood backlot wildwest hotel falsefront

I have been selling off old structures and kits on eBay when they don’t fit in my present N-scale layout under construction.  I found pieces of some kits for oldtime buildings, and I couldn’t see selling them incomplete.  I have had good luck selling structures that are somewhat unusual and that also appear at least superficially to have above-average detail.  I am building some of these as movie lot false front buildings, and this is the first one.

I have read stories about some modelers who staged movie scenes on their layout as an excuse for running an oldtime train on a relatively modern layout.  I have always seen these with models of old style buildings.  What I have NEVER seen is realistic models of FAKE movie set false fronts, with nothing but scaffolding and framing behind the front.

This is the first of 3 to 7  buildings, an entire movie set “western town.”  In general, it is not worth my time to build something detailed to sell, but maybe these will be unusual enough to arouse some interest.  They don’t fit my present plans but I have wanted to build this for 30 or 40 years, so this is my chance.

Great start to WPF. Bear- your friend was a real craftsman. Robbie- great looking module. Terry- Interesting combo-I like it.

This week I have a video of all the changes I have made on my layout in the last 2 months. I still need to put more trees down on the back of the layout.

Very cool picture!!!

Here's a new diorama I've been working on.  I've been wanting one for awhile now, well at least something nicer than what I am using.

I posted a few pictures.  The one picture I used mirrors to give a "reflection" look.

Gidday All, currently 2215 hours on a balmy, 70 F, Friday evening. Haven't had time this week to get any hands on model railroading done, so as it was just over a year ago that my friend Hans Hubner passed away, here's another look at a harbour scene on one of his modules.

Have a Great One Folks,

Cheers, the Bear.
