Stewart F unit details
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 3:14 PM
Been doing a little looking around and ran across a detail kit from Detail Associates for the Stewart F units, however it's not in stock at Walthers and the few online retailers I've looked at say it has been discontinued. Anyone know where could find it, or any have a list of parts to detail these units up?

Thanks

Walthers will help you find parts that they have sold to dealers.

If not, write Detail Associates - otherwise yoiu have to bend your own or buy the Intermouintain 'F' shell with the parts already on them. (Not a bad choice - as you get see thru grills).

Walthers also sells an F Unit A&B detail set. It has eneugh parts to detail one A and one B unit. It was listed next to the Athearn Superdrive F-s in the Walthers Catalog, But It is aplicable to all brands of F-Units so I assume they still carry it. Just dont know where in the catalog they put it.

Wes,
I did a Google search. According to Walthers' Web site, Detail Associates was founded by three guys in 1975, and is located in San Luis Obispo, CA, but they didn't list a mailing address - you might try the online 'phone directories. The other sites I use for manufacturer addresses didn't list them. There is an outfit that lists a lot of their parts for sale. Here's the link:

I haven't dealt with that outfit, so you're on your own. HTH.

Wes,
I got off my duff and went down to our basement, picked up a Detail Associates wood roof walk kit and found their address on the back:
Detail Associates
P. O. Box 197
Santa Maria, CA 93456
If you do send them a note, you might want to add "Please Forward" on the envelope, just to be safe. Guess they don't want to pay the annual domain fee, as well as pay for someone to write the code, insert .jpg files and maintain a Web site.

Thanks for the address Bob! Thats a big help.

I ran across that website as well when I was looking yesterday. They seem to be the only ones who still are offering the Stewart detail kit. I think I'll give it a try.

The lack of availability for the Stewart detail kit has been going on for some time. I've tried everywhere to locate it. I've found a couple on ebay, but that's about it. For some reason they no longer make it. If you can find them, collect them, they are hard to come by.

Oh, by the way, I'll take 3 please.

Found the Detail Associates F unit detail kit listed on Standard Hobby Supply's website uner "More Liquidation Items" while looking for some other stuff. Standardhobby.com.
