I always replace all couplers with Kadee couplers before it goes on the layout. I know there are other couplers out there but i've found that kadees are the best. I will not run anything on the layout with stock couplers....chuck

I have used Kadee couplers on all my Kato lokeys.  They slide right into the box.  Take the lokey to your LHS and see what style of Kadee will work in her.  The Kadee website also has a page describing which coupler fits which lokey.Cowboy

If it is a new loco, check with the place you got it and see what they can do for you.

If you have to fix it and are in N scale, Micro-Trains has a listing at their web site so you will know what you need for a coupler.  Kadee  has a conversion (replacement) listing for locos in HO at their site..

Good luck,

Richard

I got my Kato sd40-2 the othe3r day and the first thing I noticed was that the rear coupler is broken.  Here's how the front one looks:

I think I'll go to my LHS to get a replacement unless there's an easier way.
