Empire Express is another option for Mac. Less full-featured than Railmodeller, might be simpler to use. Some have been able to make XTrakCad work on their Macs, others have had issues.

I'm also a Mac user and downloaded RailModeller for free. It works, but for free you can't save or print any plans you come up with. If it was open on your desktop, you could take a screen shot to "save" plans (shift, command, 3 or shift, command, 4 to size the screen shot). This would give you a picture of your track plan.
Good luck!
As I'm about to expand the MESS (I'm actually about to split it down the centre) I figured track design might be a good idea. I googled to see what was available and really didn't see anything that met my needs but more to the point was Mac friendly or even better "Free"!
Does anyone know of such a program. Again I'm looking for simple!
Is their an App for I Pads?
