Well here is a really old pic of my trainroom. I have more Spaghetti in the form of a yard going on in the middle of the bench.
The room to the left is where my workbench is.

Years ago there was an article in MR about workbenches. They showed one that was essentially two tv dinner tables (don't know if such a thing is still made). It was a very haphazard "mess". But, it was the workbench of one of the better model builders of the time................
Frankly, if the workspace is really neat, then no work is being done............
Now, if only I can convince the wife of that........................
