N Scale Locos

Hi everybody!

Due to a lack of space, I have decided to decrease size, from HO to N. I have already purchased a set (Bachmann Spectrum), and am now wondering. Which locomotive manufacturer would you reccomend?

Atlas and Kato are probably the best right now.

Atlas, Kato, and some of the newest releases from Life-Like (with split-frame design) are pretty good runners. Athearn is new to N too, so we'll have to see how they do. Anyone tinkered with Athearn a bit yet?

I plan on getting a few NS SD70M's this November.

IMO Kato and Atlas are the best.

Bachman Spectrum Steam line is good. If you can get them at your LHS, test run them first. There are some that just do not run well but on average, most do. I have four of them and two Mountains and all six run as good as any steam I have including the Kato 2-8-2. The Model Power steam is also a good runner but most of the details are cast on so they do not look as good as the Bachman Spectrums. I do not have any of the Spectrum deisels.
