Tyco became Mantua who is now part of www.modelpower.com
Try E-Bay for accessories etc.

There are collectors sites on the web (If there is something, someone out there collects it). Usually they want it in the box. Can be used. Do a few google searches.

One product that I compliment Tyco on: The HO GP20 that they made years ago. The body shell was not too far off from the prototype. Good potential. There was a very good article in Model Railroader in the early 80s. A modeler explained step by step on how he took one of these units and did a beautiful job in detailing it in the Union Pacific scheme. Excellent photos.[:)][:D][8D][8)]

My first engine was a Tyco. Maybe not the greatest engine, but still it was fun.
Enjoy

Got C360-series from a friend. Admittedly, not the best, but they are done well enough that a little time could make them nice engines. Didnt run when i got it but a good cleaning and filing of the wheels (wont fit through [Atlas] frogs), did wonders. I also have some track (brass or nickel/silver?), a couple cars, and an old transformer by TYCO. It is a multi-step rather than progressive resister type. It also makes a funny buzzing most of the time.

I have quite alot of Tyco train equipment, and i do collect them. The engines worked ok,though after a while the motor would burn out.The freight cars are great, change the wheel sets and couplers to kadee and you have a new car.I do have a few catalogs of what Tyco offered and I can still find some of the stuff at garage sales and at antique dealers, though at the antique shops, some of these dealers want too much for what is virtually cheap and its not worth it.There is a Silver Streak loco and caboose that i would like to have, but for $65.00...its not worth the value of it.

I hate to admit it but a friend of mine put a decoder in Tyco C430 and super detailed the whole thing. It is a nice looking model.

If it has an X in it, it sucks! And yes, I just had my modeler's license renewed last week!
