I missed the sad news until now about Mr. Dudler.
Several commenters mentioned his website. I found his site months before I knew it belonged to the same person who's pictures I enjoyed on here. I sent him a PM. I know it was in a private message but I don't think he would have minded. I complicated him on his website. The breadth of information on his site. He was as many others have said he was a gentleman. He was gracious and then he said, "Yes, a website about the model railroad is another part of the hobby. There's no other hobby with so many facets."
He was a great modeler and I think importantly for many others shared his work. It's why many people buy Great Model Railroads. To see the highest levels of modelling skill and to be inspired.
Crandell, thank you for letting us know. I enjoyed seeing Wolfgang's site and what project he was working on (really liked his interior detailing for a depot). He was a definite credit to the hobby, and I for one know I will miss him.

I remember hearing of his illness some time ago and was hoping he would recover. I discovered his marvelous layout when searching for a track plan and really enjoyed his videos. His how to videos were interesting as well. I often read things on his web page and discussions via the web and thought what a talented modeler and generally nice person. He was also in possession of humorous wit as well as great skill when it came to modeling, my favorite comment of his was regarding covered gondolas which were used to contain nit pickers.
He will be sorely missed by the rest of us. My condolences to his family and friends.
Like all of us, I'm also sad to see him go. His amazing GL critter was my inspiration to try building critters of my own. I hope all the work he did will be preserved, at least in some way.

This is very sad news indeed. My condolences to his family. I'll miss his posts. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting Wolfgang in person, he always came across as a very warm, thoughtful gentleman. He was a marvelous modeler. I sincerely hope that his family lets his videos remain on Youtube.

Just in case, save stuff from his site as an HTML document to your PC in case his site goes away. That way you have a permanent record. Maybe someone will keep his site up.

In any ways it's a very sad news.
I was first in contact whith him about the Freemo organisation, because I wanted to become a menber.
We also exchanged a few mails about handlaid track tips and techniques and also on discussion on MR forums.
I also had the chance to meet him in person at the Rodgau 2011 US convention (Germany-Europe)last autumn and we have speak again about handlaid track; he was very busy whith a freemo Hon3 layout.
It was the only time I meet him , but I remenber a very kindly person whith a open mind about trains models.

I was always pleased to see Wolfgang's name on a post, I knew I was going to see not only some great modeling, but some fine videos as well. One of my favorites was his Westport 44 tonner with a Loksound decoder programmed with R2D2 sound effects

Sorry to hear that we have lost another of our great modelers and innovators. I will miss seeing his postings of developments on his pikes. His Westport Terminal videos inspired me to get off the dime and work on my own layout and his work with small locos was really inspiring. He will be missed.

I am literally in shock. Just before popping in here, I read my email, and read about Wolfgang in the LDSIG list. I never met the man, but through conversations in the forum here made him feel like a friend. When Wolfgang posted new photos, you knew you were in for a treat, be it the fine quality of model work or the wonderfully intricate mechanical work like full sound in those tiny critters, or, more often than not, both at the same time.
My condolences to his familky. He will be missed by many.

The news of Wolfgang's passing is heartbreaking. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear that Wolfgang has departed. I too enjoyed his posts about his Westport Terminal RR. He will be missed by this forum & the model RR community. Rest in peace. I pray for his family & friends.
Just yesterday I thought of him, thinking that I hadn't seen him post in quite a while. I will remember his work particulary The Westport Terminal and his video showing chain link fence gates opening and closing. I was working on a chain link fence at the time,
I always looked forward to seeing his latest work. It was so creative.
