I run a custom paint shop. I charge $14.00 an hour Plus a $10.00 "Shop fee" to cover the expenses of the neccissary painting supplies and proper disposal of chemicals. CSX's "Dark Future" scheme as I think it is called will run about 10 to 12 hours for me looking at other similar paint schemes I have done in the past. However by the time you likely read this. It's all perspective. Think of it as a one-off experimental CSX paint scheme and you're modeling it. Enjoy your model and don't worry about.

When I first took my new Proto 2000 SD50 out of the box, I was shocked to find a black and gold engine when I was expecting a darkish blue and gold matching the new paint scheme of the CSX engines I see on the rails near here. The research and development folks at Lifelike insist it is the correct CSX blue, but the eyes of all who have seen my engine see it differently.

Why did I keep it and even go so far as to add sound? Dummy!! Even though I am pleased with the engine in every other way, it still bugs me that it doesn't look like the real thing. I am not set up for repainting and lack the necessary skills. Are there places that do custom painting? What could I expect to pay?
