What kinds of trains do you operate?

I model GN 1947-48. I have a 14 car Empire Builder pulled by a pair of BLI E-7's, and a 60+car freight (all 36-40 ft) pulled by Stewart FT - ABBA consist (cut down to 3 powered and a B full of sound.) I have an nw2 yard switcher on order.
I am also involved in a friend's operation group doing 1969 SP&S/OE from Eugene up to Willbridge (Portland-Vancouver) helping to develop the various trains, switcher jobs, and fine tune the schedule. It is a great education!

Locals [:D] These locals can be 1-14 cars on my HO industrial switching layout.Depending on inbound cars there may be no cars to set out.So with the crew will only make pickups at the industries.[:D]

I'm planning to run:

Through freights and passenger trains (Zephyrs) between Chicago and Galesburg on the double main.

A unit train of Western coal heading to Chicago.

A branch train of local, Illinois coal.

An ore train off the GN running on Burlington track with a Burlington loco as the lead.

A couple way freights working the rural branchline.

A couple interchange trains/transfer runs to and from some other railroads.

A couple, small branch local passenger runs.

A rock/sand/gravel train off the Rock Island (if I make that part of the layout double deck.)

A local industrial train working industries around and near the main yard and the warehouse/manufacturing district in the city area.

A couple of locals, a mill turn and commuter traffic is what my layout will run when it's complete.

It's definitely interesting to see the variety of trains different people choose to model. Really is a diverse hobby.

I run small freight consists, and I plan to get a doodlebug for limited passenger service. My layout is a Branchline serving the B&O in the 1920's

I run almost completely local frieghts, and I will run a passenger train every few operating sessions once I get the right equipment (no good pass. cars at moment)

When I can afford it, I will have a steel mill so I will run "bottle trains".

Lots of reefer extras east, lots of empty reefers mixed in with freight west. Also coal and cattle, hotshot manifest freights plus some local freights. Local passenger and two 'deluxe' passenger trains, one streamlined, the other Pullman-standard. More the merrier, I say.

On my layout I run intermodel, an auto parts, manifest, local, coal drag, one through passenger train, and a rdc. I have a 2% grade so manned helpers are used to up the grade then dropped off at the summit then are moved back down the grade.

I mainly run small(10 car or less) freight trains. These consist of locals and through freights. My passenger trains are mixed, gas electric, and a small 3 car passenger train pulled by a GP9.

A transition-era reefer block, coal drag, Daylight passenger train, various mixed freights, and the SP heavyweights. Also a fleet of miscellaneous modern freight cars for those "back to the future" sessions.

We run manifests, grain, steel, coal, passenger, mixed intermodal, roadrailer, gasoline trains usually using the Gatx tank train from Model Die Cast, iron, locals, work, and plenty of extras. Because we have so many cars we run alot of different unit trains but are not actually on the operation officially.

Hi everyone

On my modest 6x3 n scale layout, I try to get as much operation as possible. I have enough equipment to operate a decent size coal train, a good looking intermodal train, and two or three general merchandise trains. Of course I can only operate one at a time. I like all the different types and think they look great in the model train world. So, anyone care to tell what goes by on their layouts?
