i'm going to incorporate some signals in my layout which is still in the formative stage. being a retired signal maintainer there is some pressure on me to have operating signals on it. i'm not going to have block occupancy detection. i'll probably use a combo of track detectors and relays for block protection and traffic direction control. i've had operating signals on an ho layout many years ago and they worked very well.

There's a new book out, and it sounds pretty good. I was thinking of picking up a copy.

There have been other books on signaling, Kalmbach may still have one, but I couldn't find it listed.

I just did a Google search with the words railroad signaling and this was at the top of the list.

I have Logic Rail stuff, it works great and if you have problems with installation you can e-mail them and they are QUICK to reply.
Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

Need Signaling Primer
Posted by Sandpatch on Saturday, August 28, 2004 9:19 AM
I would like to incorporate signaling into my "in planning stage" layout. Although my signaling may not be true prototypical signaling, I'd like to learn about the real thing before I decide what I want to do. Is there a primer somewhere on the web where I can learn about protypical signaling?

Also, for layout purposes, what do folks here use? Is there a primer for layout signaling too? At the moment, I'm leaning towards Logic Rail Technologies Block Animator but I've by no means made up my mind.

Thanks!
