HO Logging Mill
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, August 26, 2004 2:48 AM
Hi Fellows,
I am looking for plans for a Logging mill.
A few years ago (don't know how many) there was excellent plans in Model Railroader for an 'N' scale "scratch built mill". If any one knows of it I would sure like the date of the magazine. The other alternative is does anyone know of plans for one. (Preferrably not too complex.) in HO?
Thanks
Ken Ison

I am just putting the finishing touches on one I based on part of the old Cass Lumber Co. in WV. I never really drew up any plans, just a rough sketch and imagination. I can take some pictures and email them to you along with a basic explanation of how I built it and a basic drawing with dimensions if interested ( the footprint is 9"x12", height 4.5"). It's all styrene except the roof is sheeted with Campbell 6' scale corrugated aluminum treated with etching solution. The power house I built to go with it is a modified Bachman feed store kit. If you want the info on that too I can include it.

Ken,

You are probably thinking of the series that ran from Feb to June, 2003.

On a couple of other model RR sites there are forums specifically for logging lines with much info about sawmills, etc. Not sure if you will find a scale plan there but it is well worth visiting. Learned a whole lot there about the industry & practices.

Email me if you want the URLs
